This year’s Festival Chorus will be led by Sydney’s well-loved conductor Alex Pringle. Originally from the NSW town of Albury, Alex studied the violin at the Canberra School of Music and The Australian Institute of Music before being drawn to conducting and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. He has worked extensively with the NSW Arts Unit in both an orchestral and choral capacity (including conducting the 2024 Schools Spectacular) and has conducted many of Australia’s major orchestras as part of the Symphony Services podium program.

Alex is an advocate for the benefits of singing in the community. He is the director of Harmoni Choirs which currently includes three choirs around Sydney – Urban Voices (Epping), Singers Re-Choired (Drummoyne) and the Harmoni Chamber Choir (Annandale), which is dedicated to producing vocal music at the highest level.

He has directed the choral program at Fort St High School since 2001 and in that time it has grown to be one of the largest and most awarded high school programs in Australia. From 2012 to 2022 he co-directed the NSW Senior Singers for the Department of Education and Communities and from 2015-2022 held the position of Director of Vocal Music at The Scots College, Sydney.

Festival Chorus registration form

This form is for those wishing to sing in this year’s Festival Chorus. You must be able to attend two rehearsals, one at Chatswood High School Hall, 9:30am – 3pm on Sunday 10 August, and the other 8am – 10am in Phillips Hall on Sunday 24 August during the choir festival. (Note the change of venue; the school’s address is 24 Centennial Avenue Chatswood.)

Once you have registered you will be sent a link and password to rehearsal tracks.
